About Aberdovey
Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) is a thriving seaside fishing village, with a fabulous sandy beach, and it's own micro-climate, and is arguably the jewel in the crown of Cardigan Bay.
The village boasts an 18 hole championship Links golf course (Aberdovey Golf Club), stunning beach and hill walks, and various watersporting activities such as sailing, kite surfing and canoeing to name a few.
During the summer months there are various beach activities for children and adults alike as part of Aberdyfi's annual village summer funfest.
Within the village of Aberdyfi there are numerous shops to browse, and why not enjoy a cool locally made Ice cream on the seafront, and an hour or two of crabbing off the jetty with the family. There are tours of the estuary and beyond, organised by Dyfi Discoveries from the wharf buildings, from where you'll hopefully catch sight of seals or dolphins or various other sea life. There are chartered fishing boats from which you can try your luck at the local sea fishing, or alternatively, small boats can be hired individually for a spot of laking fishing on the nearby Talyllyn Lake.
Around Aberdovey
Other local attractions include the popular narrow gauge Talyllyn Railway, and also a station link to the picturesque Cambrian Coast line which takes you all the way to the Llyn Peninsula.
There is a bicycle hire centre from which the family can choose from a selection of bikes (including tag-alongs for the younger children), and from where your cycle down country lanes can end with a picnic at the foot of Bird Rock, or further on to the ancient ruins of our local castle known as Castell y Bere
In the nearby Dyfi Valley you will find the Corris Craft Centre (home to a range of craft and gift shops with activities for the children and a play park for those sunny days), King Arthur's Labyrinth (where you'll discover a magical underground world on a boat trip back in time), and the Centre for Alternative Technology, (where you can easily fill a day discovering everything you would want to know about today's green issues and ecological living).
